The 48th Annual Daffodil Festival on Nantucket is taking place on April 25-28, 2024.
One of Nantucket’s most unique events, the annual Daffodil Festival takes place during one of the last weekends of April each year. The weekend is a celebration of spring on Nantucket and is a sign that things are beginning to awaken after a quiet winter. Stores dust off the shelves and open their doors and seasonal restaurants begin to fill their seats.
An annual antique car parade starts on Main Street and ends in a festive and floral picnic down the streets of Siasconset. It is a weekend not to be missed if you are an avid fan of the Grey Lady, so grab your yellow pants and your fanciest hat, and head on down to 'Daffy Day' on Nantucket! Nantucket Garden Club Annual Daffodil Flower Show
The main event of the weekend will take place April 27-28 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Bartlett's Ocean View Farm. With flower entries, floral arrangements, photography entries, and more, this is the highlight event of the 48th Annual Daffodil Festival. Complimentary bus service will run on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m. from Washington Street near the WAVE bus terminal. Admission is free to the flower show, so be sure to check it out!
Flower Crown Party
If you're still looking for the perfect thing to complete your Daffy Day outfit, you're in luck! The Flower Crown Party has you covered with all the materials needed to create a stunning piece for your festival celebrations. Visit the Dreamland Theatre Harborview Room on April 25 from 5:30 pm.. - 7:30 p.m. for a fun-filled class that will have you ready to stroll Main Street in no time. Your ticket price includes all necessary crafting materials and flowers, as well as two drink tickets and hors d'oeuvres.
On April 26th, the Flower Power Party will kick off the Annual Daffodil Festival with live music, photo booths, specialty cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a contest for the best 'flower power' outfit. The Nantucket Historical Association, in partnership with the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce and N Magazine, will host this event at the Whaling Museum.
Antique Car Parade & Tailgate Picnic
The Antique Car Parade & Tailgate Picnic features meticulously restored vintage cars along Main Street and through downtown Nantucket. Be sure to check it out on April 27th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and vote for your favorite car. Afterward, stick around for the post-parade picnic!
Hat Pageant
Don your most unique hat and gather for the Daffodil-themed hat pageant at 10:00 a.m. on April 27th. Everyone is invited to this fun event, including women, men, and children! The Children's Parade begins just as this event ends at the Children's Beach Bandstand, and it will be relocated to the White Heron Theatre if there is inclement weather.
Children's Parade
The Daffodil Festival Children's Parade is one of the festival's most fun events. Kids come prepared in their best daffy gear with decorated bikes, skateboards, strollers, and more. The littlest ones (under 10) must be accompanied by an adult, so parents can join in on the fun too. The parade begins on April 27th at 10:35 a.m. at the Children's Beach bandstand on Harbor View Way.
Daffy Dog Parade
The furriest event at the Daffodil Festival is the Daffy Dog Parade where four-legged friends strut their stuff along the streets of downtown Nantucket. Daffy costumes are strongly encouraged for dogs and humans, alike, for a chance to win a prize. All participants must be registered to qualify for prizes. This fun parade helps to benefit the Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals and will take place at 12:30 p.m. after the children's parade.
