There's no reason to be disappointed about a rainy day on Nantucket. While the beaches are a top attraction, there's plenty to do here inside as well. Visit one of the top Nantucket attractions, like the Whaling Museum or treat yourself at a luxury spa in town. There's something for everyone.
Here are a few of our favorite things to do on Nantucket on a rainy day.
Dreamland Theater
The Dreamland Theater has been a part of the Nantucket cultural community since 1883. In 2012 the Dreamland renovation was completed and ever since the building has been restored to its former glory. The theater shows several movies a day in addition to concerts and special events throughout the year. The Dreamland also runs children's theater programs throughout the summer.
Whaling Museum
Explore The Whaling Museum's 11 galleries and exhibit spaces featuring thousands of artifacts and art pertaining to Nantucket life and art and Nantucket’s unique place in the world. From the 46-foot male sperm whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling to the Hadwen & Barney Oil and Candle Factory, there is something for everyone at The Whaling Museum. After visiting, and learning so much about Nantucket's history, you will feel a deeper connection to the island.
Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum
The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum is dedicated to preserving Nantucket's rich history of basket making. Visit this museum to learn about this history of the Nantucket Baskets and to see how they are made.
Have a Spa Day
Relax and have a spa day! Get your hair done, a mani/pedi, or a massage at one of Nantucket's salons! Life Massage is great for a relaxing massage or enjoy a variety of beauty services at RJ Miller Salon.
